1. Can counseling really make a difference in my relationships?
It really can. I can help you explore your relationship patterns and what works in relationships. Then you can discover how to find the love you really want.
2. Does counseling always work?
I wish it did. But, I can't guarantee that. I can say, I'll do my very best, to help you.
3. How long are your sessions?
My sessions are usually 45 minutes. At times, shorter or longer sessions may be needed.
4. How often do we meet?
We usually meet once a week. If you're going through a really tough time, sometimes, we need more frequent sessions. As things get better, sometimes, we meet less often.
5. How long does counseling usually last?
If things are going well, and you just need a little help to get through a rough time, counseling can be pretty brief. If you're struggling with some tougher issues and you want to get to a much better place, it might mean more time. It's completely up to you.
6. What does "MFT, Ph.D." mean?
MFT means I'm a Marriage & Family Therapist. I've been licensed since 1991. I also went back for my doctorate in Marriage & Family Studies. I wanted to learn more about relationships and I wanted to teach at the university level.
7. What kind of university teaching do you do?
Most recently, I've taught people who are becoming Marriage & Family Therapists. I love helping them become good therapists. And of course, I love teaching them -- how to find and keep a good relationship.
8. Do you have a sliding scale?
I'm sorry, I don't. But, if you need low-cost counseling, there are several clinics in the area: Santa Anita Family Services (Covina, 626.966.1755); Community Counseling Center (Azusa, 626.815.5421); Foothill Family Services (West Covina, 626.338.9200).
